A diagnosis can name what you have been experiencing and guide the right care. But it describes something about your health; it does not have to become a description of who you are.

We often seek help only when symptoms have become hard to ignore. But difficulties rarely begin at the point they become disruptive, and recognising the smaller changes earlier gives us more room to understand what is happening and decide what, if anything, to do.

Much of health is handed to trained professionals, and for good reason. But there is a part that cannot be handed over completely: understanding what is happening, asking questions, noticing changes, and recognising where you still have some influence.
