Calm Within Chaos

Anxiety can affect sleep, breathing, concentration, and the ability to settle after effort. Calm Within Chaos is a structured eight-week yoga therapy programme for people experiencing persistent worry, restlessness, physical tension, or difficulty settling. Through weekly group sessions, two individual consultations, guided home practice, and regular review, you develop practices suited to your present capacity and learn how to use them in daily life.
Sessions run in a small group of no more than twelve participants, with individual adaptation within the shared structure. The programme is grounded in yoga therapy and works alongside the medical or psychological care you may already receive.

Live guidance
- Eight weekly group sessions
- Two individual consultations, one at the start and one at the midpoint
- Space to discuss difficulties as they arise
Practice between sessions
- A guided daily practice of approximately twenty to thirty minutes
- Recorded movement, breathing, relaxation, and reflection practices
- Prompts to help you observe what is changing
Review and continuation
- Starting and closing assessments
- Adjustments based on what is and is not supporting you
- A written plan for continued practice
Before the first live session, you complete an intake form and a short baseline self-assessment. In Week 1, I meet with you individually to understand where you are starting from and personalise how you approach the practices. A second consultation in Week 5 allows us to review what is changing and adjust the practice for the weeks ahead. The programme provides structure. The pace is yours.
How the programme works
Anxiety can affect sleep, breathing, attention, and the ability to settle. Calm Within Chaos begins by establishing a practice that is realistic at your current capacity. From there, the programme helps you observe the patterns and circumstances that may intensify anxiety, and develop practical ways to respond.
- 01Weeks 1 and 2, Establish. Understand how anxiety is affecting sleep, breathing, attention, and daily life, and begin a daily practice suited to your current capacity.
- 02Weeks 3 and 4, Observe. Notice the physical, mental, and behavioural patterns that may intensify anxiety or make it more difficult to settle afterwards.
- 03Weeks 5 and 6, Respond. Develop movement, breathing, relaxation, attention, and reflective practices that may be useful during anxious periods.
- 04Weeks 7 and 8, Integrate. Identify the practices that are most useful and build them into a routine that can continue after the programme.
What changed for participants
Calm Within Chaos measures where each participant starts and finishes, using validated anxiety questionnaires. The results below are drawn from seventeen participants across three cohorts, in April 2024, September 2024, and March 2026, with matched before-and-after scores.
GAD-7
generalised anxiety, down 36.4%; 14 of 17 improved
Beck Anxiety Inventory
down 40.4%; 13 improved, 2 unchanged, 2 higher
Hamilton Anxiety
down 35.9%; 14 of 17 improved
Positivity
programme measure, up 10.1%
Across the seventeen complete cases, average scores decreased on all three anxiety measures used in the evaluation. Fourteen of seventeen participants recorded a lower GAD-7 score, and twelve moved to a lower GAD-7 severity band. Individual responses varied.
These figures describe change over time among participants who completed the programme, with matched before-and-after scores on the GAD-7, the Beck Anxiety Inventory, and the Hamilton Anxiety scale. It is a programme evaluation across three cohorts, not a controlled trial, so it shows what changed during participation rather than proving the programme alone caused it. Participant names have been removed.

ElizabethI am able to calm myself down faster when I am anxious, and I have been able to bring yoga into my daily routine.
SaraI am more aware of the distance between myself and my emotions. There is more structure in my inner world.

Does this feel familiar?
Anxiety shows up in the mind and in the body. Over the last couple of weeks, tick what feels familiar. This is a personal reflection, not a test or a diagnosis.
